A continuación presentamos la entrevista que nos concedió James Zabiela durante su estadía en Lima:

1.-How would you define your style?

A mixture of tech house, techno and breaks.

2.-Is it true that you are a very shy person? Is this possible working as a dj?

Yeah, but djing has helped me overcome this to an extent, because you're forced to! I find it harder to play in smaller more intimate places than the massive raves because it's a far less intimate thing.

3.-You come from playing your music at Brasil. How was it? What are your expectations about the peruvian crowd?

I had a brilliant party at Anzu outside of Sao Paulo which was great and a smaller party for 'VIP's which wasn't so great. I played Creamfields in Peru last year and a couple of year before that too and I count them as two of the best parties I ever played so I have good expectations!

4.-You where called by Pioneer Electronics to help them develop the CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 media turntables? How was that experience?

Yes, although I worked mainly on the 2000 the operations are also passed onto the 900. The experience was amazing and is ongoing, newer firmware releases are happening all the time and product continues to improve even after release. At the party on Saturday I will update firmware to a new one before I go on, it's that easy and only takes two minutes. It's an honour to be involved on these amazing products and I get to help make them better and in turn help my own experience in using them.

5.- Wich are your musical influences?

Far too many to mention but depeche mode, modeselektor, apparat, sasha, radiohead, Clarke, nosaj thing etc

6.-What music are you listening at the moment in your ipod?

All above but also a lot bands, indie, alternative stuff like the foals, Interpol, Peter Gabriel and some stuff which I'm embarrassed to mention!

7.- There is a contest in your web to go snowboarding with you. Are you good at it?

I'm okay, I've been doing it for a while now so I'd say I was fairly competent!

8.- Tell me about your most recent proyects.

Well my Renaissance cd 'life' is my most recent release. It's really a snapshot of the music I love and listen to as I travel around the planet living inside my headphones. There's also field recordings from my journeys mixed in in places and some audio narrative provided my actor friend Joel Einhorn to really give it a soundtrack feel.
